Enquirer is seeking to identify a short poem (perhaps three or four verses) remembered from a 1950s High School text book in the United Sates concerning two men playing chess or cards who are interrupted by plaster falling from the ceiling. It is then revealed that some people (perhaps two or three men) have died on the floors above when the roof collapsed. One of the lines may have been:

"Two men were killed that day"
