Poet Tony Conran has died | 09-Feb-13
The death of poet Welsh poet Tony Conran has been announced, he was 81. As well as being a poet and critic he edited and co-translated the groundbreaking Penguin Book of Welsh Verse in 1967.
Seren, who published several of his books, paid the following tribute:
"His translations from Welsh poetry stretching over a thousand years were landmarks, and testimony to his ability to empathise with writers and writing across centuries of differing experiences and conditions. Tony's own poetry was often demanding, sometimes almost mesmerising in its craft and conviction."
